This Affiliate Disclosure explains how BusinessDevelopmentCompanies.com ("we", "us", or "this site") earns money from the financial platforms featured on our pages, how those commercial relationships are disclosed to you, and what we do to keep our independent Business Development Company (BDC) research objective. This page supplements our Editorial Policy, Terms of Service, and Privacy Policy.
1. Who We Are
BusinessDevelopmentCompanies.com is an independent educational and research platform focused on publicly traded Business Development Companies. We are not an investment adviser, broker-dealer, or BDC. We do not provide investment advice, execute trades, or hold client assets. All content is for informational and educational purposes only and should not be construed as a recommendation or solicitation to buy or sell any security.
2. Affiliate Relationships
Outbound links to eToro Partners and Interactive Brokers LLC on this site route through internal tracking paths of the form /go/etoro/ and /go/ibkr/. These paths redirect to the partner's official website and append a tracking identifier. They are configured so that, when a relationship begins, attribution works from the very first click.
As of the date of this disclosure, the programs that outbound links on this site point to are:
- eToro Partners — the affiliate program operated by eToro Group Ltd and its regulated subsidiaries, including eToro (Europe) Ltd, eToro (UK) Ltd, eToro Australia Pty Ltd, and eToro USA LLC.
- Interactive Brokers LLC — the affiliate / Introducing Broker program operated by Interactive Brokers LLC.
This site is not currently enrolled in either program and no commission is earned from clicks on those outbound links today. If we are accepted and onboarded into a program in the future, we may then earn a commission, referral fee, or other compensation when a visitor clicks an outbound link and takes a qualifying action (such as opening or funding an account). When that happens we will update this page and the footer disclosure; the date above will be revised at the same time. We may also add or remove partners in the future, with this page updated to reflect.
3. How We Earn
If an affiliate program described in Section 2 becomes active, we may earn a commission, referral fee, or other compensation when you:
- Click an outbound link from this site to a partner broker platform, and
- Open a new account, fund an account, or take another qualifying action on that platform.
Until then, no commission is earned from any click. Outbound links on this site route through internal tracking paths of the form /go/ (for example, /go/etoro/ and /go/ibkr/) so click-throughs can be attributed to the page (e.g., a BDC profile, a VS comparison page, or a rankings page) that produced the click, and so that attribution is established before any onboarding.
You do not pay more for using our links. Where a relationship is active, compensation is paid by the partner platform out of its own marketing budget and is not added to your cost of opening or holding an account.
4. Editorial Independence
Affiliate compensation does not influence BDC coverage, rankings, ratings, dividend metrics, NAV calculations, head-to-head comparison tables, or any other analytical content on this site. The BDC profiles, dividend tables, comparisons, and rankings are derived solely from publicly available SEC filings (EDGAR) and issuer disclosures, not from any broker's marketing materials. 5. Link Attributes
All outbound marketing links to broker partners carry the rel="sponsored nofollow noopener" attribute, in line with Google's guidelines for affiliate and sponsored links and FTB guidance. "Sponsored" flags the link as a paid placement to search engines. "Nofollow" prevents the partner platform from receiving search-ranking credit for the link from this site. "Noopener" is a security attribute that prevents the partner site from accessing this site's window object.
